WHY Apexi ?
Apexi, represent the highest in quality. All of our exhaust systems
are manufactured in Mt. Fuji Factory in Japan. Trademark ROBOTIC TIG WELDS
and flawless design set the apexi Exhaust Series apart from the competition.
Many other companies rely on Apexi quality to produce their own OEM (Original
Equipment Manufacturer) brand exhaust systems. Not only does apexi promote
its own brand, but it supports countless other companies in the industry
as well. It is important to understand that welding alone does not produce a
quality exhaust system. It is our database of information regarding exhaust pulse,
engine characteristics, and silencing techniques that sets Apexi as the leader
in total exhaust manufacturing.
Concept
Every product has an intended concept to it, a purpose that it is designed for.
In tuning, every gain usually sacrifices another aspect of performance.
Some sacrifices may be low end power in exchange for a high end punch. Other
examples could include mid range torque for peak HP. In any case, it is
important for the customer to know exactly WHERE the sacrifices of a particular
exhaust would occur and WHY. Drag racing exhaust systems would want power
on the top end while a road racer would want plenty of mid range torque
to propel them through the corners.
Why is Apexi Exhaust different ?
The most apparent difference in apexi exhaust, apexi n1 exhaust systems, are the cosmetics. Our robotic
TIG welds stand as one of the most advanced and superior finishes on the market today. All
our pipes are mandrel bent to prevent any loss of efficiency. The Apexi factory also
boasts one of the only few 95mm pipe bending machines for high HP applications. All canisters
use aircraft quality SUS304 stainless steel and have a titanium particle based high
temperature paint to protect the pipes.
What is MEGAPHONE PIPING?
Megaphone
piping is based upon the law of physics stating that exhaust gases travel
along the OUTSIDE of the pipes. Sudden changes in piping diameter actually
HURT the performance of the vehicle due to turbulence created inside of
the pipes. Since exhaust gases travel at close to the speed of sound, a
pocket of turbulence inside the pipes closes off the pipe leaving only a
small diameter to pass through. This effect is similar to the movement of
a shutter in a camera. The hole fills up with turbulent gases as impenetrable
as steel. This is why apexi engineers introduces the MEGAPHONE piping system
where the piping is GRADUALLY enlarged to provide smooth exhaust gas flow.
No abrupt piping diameter changes are present in any of our systems. This
allows for a velocity piping effect and allows exhaust gases to exit the
vehicle faster than with a single piping diameter system. Another benefit
to the MEGAPHONE piping design is the achievement of the perfect
balance between the highest air flow and, where necessary, the proper amount
of low-end torque. In addition, the Megaphone Series mufflers use little,
if any, steel wool packing to preserve the canister from deterioration or prevent
"blowing out." The amount of packing used in each muffler varies
specifically on the sound deadening requirements of the application vehicle,
i.e. rotary motors, turbo-charged engines, etc.
